Description

You don't see antique Gibson guitars on the open market very often down under, so this is an exciting instrument to share this one with you all. Here we have a version 2 Gibson L-4. Round soundhole, bound fingerboard and mother of pearl inlay 'script' Gibson logo with the 'diamond' motif to the headstock. The Gibson L-4 is a curious representation of a time of change. Sharing both features of what would become the standard for flattop acoustic guitars as we now know them (14th fret neck join, a round soundhole) and more traditional archtop guitar features such as, well, the carved solid Spruce top and the floating fingerboard extension over the body. Flamed maple back and sides. Missing the pickguard. Machine heads replaced with Waverly butterbeans. Multiple (seemingly) decade old but professional diamond cleat repair to soundboard around the rosette. Gorgeous 'V' neck profile. Beautiful patina. Includes a non-original hardcase. Made in USA, serial number 81299, FON on neck block 1829.
